Heart and cardiovascular diseases have reached epidemical level in Lithuania. It is not only a medical but also a social problem. These diseases are the leading causes of incapacity for work.

The deaths caused by heart and cardiovascular diseases come to 54,4 %, while this number in old European countries number reaches only 40 %.The average of deaths of heart and cardiovascular diseases comes to 49,7 % in new European union countries. We need united societies, doctors, and the efforts of politicians in order to decrease the number of deaths of heart and cardiovascular diseases. The Lithuanian Heart Association together with the newest scientific achievements and their practical implementation has been propagating healthy way of life for 15 years.
